CHICAGO -- Courted by several teams, including the Miami Heat, free agent point guard Kyle Lowry opted to stay with the Toronto Raptors.

The 6-foot-, 205-pound Lowry signed a four-year deal worth $48 million with the Raptors on July 10, when the NBA lifted the moratorium on free agent signings, ESPN reported.

Lowry went to college at Villanova and entered the NBA as the 24th pick (Round 1) of the 2006 NBA Draft. Since being acquired from Houston in 2012, he has played 147 regular season games as a Raptor and averaged 15 points and 6.9 assists an outing.

The Heat wanted to sign Lowry to shore up their backcourt but Miami couldn't afford the point guard's market value. The Heat currently have points guards Norris Cole and rookie Shabazz Napier in their roster. (Homer D. Sayson)
