
MAASIN CITY BOXERS WIN SOUTHERN LEYTE ANNIVERSARY OVERALL CHAMPIONSHIP

As expected the host Maasin City boxing team won the overall championship of the Southern Leyte 54th Founding Anniversary Boxing Tournament at the City Terminal yesterday.
Here are the Finals results:
Vincent G. Entia of Maasin won over Peter Maquiling of Tomas Oppus by walkover, 22 kg.
Ariel Marilao of Maasin edged Ariel Bacaro of Matalom by split decision, 25 kg.
Louie Jay Forzado of Maasin prevailed over Jerome Silva of Leyte Sports Academy (LSA) by split decision (SD), 28 kg.
Jhayvie Donaire of Maasin outscored Christian Olidan of LSA by SD, 30 kg.
David Maquiling of Tomas Oppus outpointed Roy Jones Crisostomo of Maasin by unanimous decision (UD), 36 kg.
Jein Gimongola of Maasin topped Renerio Gavas also of Maasin by UD, 40 kg.
Romie Evale of Maasin triumphed over Meleni?o Anduyan of LSA by UD, 45 kg.
Monsour Grullo of Maasin conquered Jerry Mae Pandac of LSA by UD, 48kg.
Jeffrey Orello of Maasin gained over Leo Domingo Napuli also of Maasin by UD, 50 kg.
The final medal tally:
1st - Maasin City with 8 golds, 3 silvers and 2 bronzes
2nd - Tomas Oppus with 1 gold, 1 silver and 4 bronzes
3rd - Leyte Sports Academy with 4 silvers
4th - Matalom with 1 silver, 2 bronzes
The tournament was sponsored by the Provincial government thru Gov. Roger Mercado.
