New York - The HBO Pay-Per- View portion of tonight's fights from New York started right after the first five undercard bouts at around 9 pm EST.

Fans slowly poured in and the Madison Square Garden is already halfway filled by this time, with a good two hours before the main event that is the Cotto - Martinez war.

The HBO telecast kicked off with a bruising Super Welterweight battle between Andy Lee (32-2, 22 KOs) of Limerick, Ireland and John Jackson (18-1, 15 KOs) of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands.

Jackson dropped Lee with a hard right hook with one minute left in the first that almost ended the night for the Irish fighter.

Jackson would dominate Lee in the following rounds, even hurting him in the 2nd and the 4th rounds. He almost sent Lee to the canvas in the 5th with punishing combinations but the ropes held up Lee enabling him to escape the knockdown.

Jackson who was looking to finish Lee pursued the Irishman to one corner but Lee unleashed a short right counter that flattened Jackson immediately.

Referee Benjy Estevez waived off the fight immediately and summoned for medical assistance as Jackson laid motionless in the canvas.
