How would top-notch boxers fare in mixed martial arts---five 5-minute rounds with gloves that look like electric tape? Purists of ?The Sweet Science? concede that boxers would excel in trading punches, but will struggle with elbowing, kicking and grappling (disallowed under the Marquess of Queensberry boxing rules).
Ana Julaton, 2-time women?s boxing world champion, gives us a glimpse of her surprise foray to the world of mixed martial arts tomorrow May 2nd on ONE FC?s ?Rise of Heroes? card.
Philboxing.com: When is your next fight?
Ana ?The Hurricane?Julaton: It?s set for May 2nd at the MOA---I?ll be fighting at the Mall of Asia Arena. I?m very excited for the opportunity. Victor Cui and the rest of the staff of One FC have been very supportive and professional. They?ve given me this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. It?s my first time going back home (fighting in the Philippines). I?m really excited.
Philboxing.com: You?re a well-accomplished fighter, athlete and martial artist. Do you have any message for our youth, especially the Filipino youth?
Ana ?The Hurricane?Julaton: Stay positive. Treat your body right. Stay healthy. I think a healthy lifestyle always starts with a positive mind-set. When you wake up in the morning, try to say something exciting--something fun--to yourself about life. Whatever goals you have there will ups and downs.
POSITIVE THOUGHTS WILL PULL YOU THROUGH!
Stay focused and stay happy!
