The Pagara brothers Jason "El Ni?o" and "Prince" Albert will star in the co-main events on April 11, 2014 at the Maasin City Gym. It will be the first time that the famous fighting siblings will showcase their talents together in their hometown of Maasin City, Southern Leyte. Both boxers will face experienced Indonesian opponents.
ALA Boxing Promotions and Maasin City Government will jointly hold the boxing bouts. It has stirred so much interest among boxing fans of this city where they came from especially Barangay Lib-og.
Jason will face Rusmin Kie Raha while Albert will fight Skak "Checkmate" Max in a fight card billed as "Maasin Pride V: Pagara Brothers vs. Indonesians."
Raha had 12 wins, 4 losses, and 2 draws with 2 KO wins. He was the Indonesia Boxing Association lightweight champion when he defeated Yacob Ton by majority decision. He lost to Filipino Jay Solmiano for the vacant WBO Asia Pacific light-welterweight title by 2nd round knockout in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City.
Max had string of losses after turning pro, but later knocked all his opponents out in all his six succeeding wins. His latest fight was an eight-round unanimous decision loss to Patomsith Pathompothong of Thailand at the Liptapanlop Hall, Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand last January 22.
The last fight of "El Ni?o" Pagara was when he defended his WBO international light welterweight belt with a very convincing unanimous decision win over Vladimir Baez of the Dominican Republic during the Pinoy Pride XXIII at the Araneta Coliseum on November 30 last year.
?Jason is in a very tough division and that is why he needs more exposure especially fights abroad. After his Dubai fight, we are planning to send him to the United States to train,? ALA Promotions President and CEO Michael Aldeguer was quoted by Freeman Cebu.
Recently, Albert disposed his Indonesian opponent Isack Junior in their junior featherweight bout at the 2:41 mark of the first round during the Pinoy Pride XXIV last March 1 at the Solaire Resorts and Casino, Pasay City. It was the first time that Albert's fight was shown on TV over ABS-CBN.
"Albert has been showing a lot of promise at a young age of 20 and we want him to gain more experience. A regional title fight is set for him and we are planning to send him to the US to train with his brother," Aldeguer added.
