CHICAGO -- In his best game since returning from a torn ACL, point guard Rajon Rajon logged 19 points and 10 assists, both season highs, to lift the Boston Celtics past the Orlando Magic, 96-89, on Super Bowl Sunday.

Jared Sullinger provided muscle under the boards with 12 boards and 21 points while Brandon Bass added 19 and nine rebounds for the Celtics Sunday afternoon at the TD Garden. Avery Bradley chipped in 17 as Boston improved to 16-33 and move to within five games of the 8th and last playoffs berth in the Eastern Conference.

The Celtics built a 27-19 advantage after one quarter of play and spent the rest of the game holding off the Magic. Boston made 41 of 82 field goals (50 percent), 4-of-14 threes (28.6 percent) and 10-of-12 free throws (83.3 percent).

Aaron Afflalo led the Magic with 18 of 6-for-12 shooting. Glen Davis had 15 and Nekola Vucevic accounted for 14. Tobias Harris tallied 13 and the Magic fell to 13-36, 14th place in the Eastern Conference. (Homer D. Sayson)
