Ernie ?The Rock? Sanchez (14-5, 5 KOs) will once again fight in The Land of Milk and Honey where he had two stellar performances in 2012.
Sanchez, 22, is booked to fight on February 15th at the C. Robert Lee Center in Hawaiian Gardens, California in the United States.
The General Santos City resident has been 2-0 in the U.S., victorious in his two matches there when he fought twice in the undercard of province mate and Filipino superstar, Manny Pacquiao in Las Vegas in 2012. At that time, he fought under Pacquiao?s MP Promotions and defeated Wilton Hilario and Coy Williams in June and December. He switched management last year and is now being managed by Brico Santig of Highland Boxing.
But 2013 has not been good for Sanchez. He lost his two campaigns last year, dropping UD losses against Andres Gutierrez and Rey Vargas in Mexico in November and December of last year. He will be attempting to rebound this year when he squares off against a tough opponent in Diego Magdaleno in two weeks.
Magdaleno, 27 is the other half of the Magdaleno brothers of Las Vegas, a pair of Mexican-American boxers who is being promoted by Top Rank Boxing. His lone defeat was a Split Decision setback when he challenged for a world title against then WBO super featherweight champ, Roman Martinez in Macao, China in April of last year.
Magdaleno rebounded with a UD win over Edgar Riovalle last September at The Stub Hub Center in Carson, California underneath the Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. versus Brian Vera card.
The Sanchez ? Magdaleno fight is the headliner of the proposed eight card event which will be presented by Tecate and Unimas.
