Manny Pacquiao may still be the favorite in various Las Vegas and online sportsbooks going into his April 12th rematch with Tim Bradley, but the betting odds for this bout has considerably gone down compared to their initial encounter in 2012.
From a 4:1 favorite in their first fight, the current betting lines in Las Vegas sportsbooks for the fight which was just announced last week, is favoring Pacquiao by a slim 2:1 margin.
Pacquiao is pegged at -180 while Bradley is at an advantageous +160.
This means that you will need $180 in order to win $100 on a Pacquiao bet while a $100 bet on Bradley will net the bettor another $160.
In their first fight less than two years ago, Pacquiao was at -450 while Bradley enjoyed a +360 payoff on a $100 bet.
The fight was won by Bradley albeit controversially.
Both fighters are coming off big wins in their last fights. Pacquiao scored a UD win over Brandon Rios in Macau last December while Timothy Bradley successfully defended his WBO welterweight belt ? the one he won from Pacquiao in 2012, by an impressive UD win over Pacquiao?s tormentor, Juan Manuel Marquez.
According to one astute spectator of the sport and a betting odds observer, it is interesting to note that the Pacquiao odds are closer this time, even though he clearly won the first bout. This observer is wondering which way will the lines move as the fight nears.
Odds for fights adjust as money and bets for both parties pour in heavily during fight week.
Pacquiao has seen odds as high as 8:1 in the past, particularly his third fight with Marquez, also in 2012. He was also the heavy favorite in his fourth fight with Marquez, which the Mexican star erased with a brutal 6th round knockout.
