Fernando Lumacad?s losing streak in the country of Mexico continued Saturday night after he was knocked out in the first round in the hands of unbeaten hometown fighter, Horacio Garcia (25-0, 17 KOs).

Both fighters started actively after the initial bell begun, as they exchanged shots and jabs against each other in the early moments of the fight. But the fight ended early after Garcia threw a hard right hook on a covering Lumacad which seemed to have injured the Filipino?s left wrist.

Lumacad?s wrist bent from the force of his opponent?s punch and the 27 year old fighter from Zamboanga del Sur retreated in pain and Garcia, sensing that his opponent is hurt, attacked him relentlessly. Lumacad fell to the canvas after taking a number of his opponent?s punches and he was counted out by the referee afterwards.

This is Lumacad?s fifth bout in Mexico, all of them ended in disappointing defeats for the Filipino pugilist. He dropped his record to 29 wins against 7 defeats and 2 draws after Saturday night?s loss.

Garcia won the vacant WBC Continental Americas super bantamweight belt with the victory.

The official time of the knockout is 54 seconds of Round 1.
