CHICAGO -- The 1-2 punch of DeMarcus Cousins and Derrick Williams proved way too much for the visiting Dallas Mavericks to handle.
Cousins dropped 32 points and 19 boards and Williams pumped 31 more and the Kings ran over Dallas, 112-97, Monday at the Sleep Train Arena in downtown Sacramento.
Point guard Isaiah Thomas relished his first starting role with a fine effort of 24 points and 12 dimes. The Kings rattled 34 first quarter points and poured another 35 in the third quarter to keep the Mavericks chasing all night.
Monta Ellis led Dallas with 21 points and former MVP Dirk Nowitzki whipped an all-around effort of 18 points, six rebounds and seven assists. But the Mavericks shot just 37 of 94 field goals and missed 22 of 27 threes. Dallas also lost the rebounding battle, 51-39.
The Mavs, whose three-game win streak was snapped, fell to 13-9 while the Kings moved up to a modest 6-13. (Homer D. Sayson)
