CHICAGO -- The Boston Celtics dealt the New York Knicks the biggest blowout of this NBA season, a 114-73 thumping at the Madison Square Garden on Sunday afternoon.
The Celtics started the rout with a 32-7 jump in the opening quarter. They led 58-31 by halftime and were never threatened by a Knicks team that made only 25 of their 73 field goals, including just 5-for-14 from 3-point territory.
Jordan Crawford, who nailed six triples, led Boston's charge with 23 points and seven assists. Jared Sullinger added 21 while Brandon Bass and Jeff Green chipped in 16 apiece. Avery Bradley turned in 13 and 10.
Carmelo Anthony missed 10 of 15 field goals but he still led the Knicks with 19 points. Amare Stoudemire accounted for 17 off the bench and Metta World Peace finished with 12. The Knicks' starting backcourt of Raymond Felton and Iman Shumpert did not score.
After winning two straight, the Knicks fell to 5-14 for the season while the Celtics improved to a more modest 10-12 slate.
"It's a step backwards. I thought we had turned the corner somewhat," Knicks head coach Mike Woodson told NBA.com. (Homer D. Sayson)
