The growing city of Mandaluyong celebrates its 62nd Liberation Day and 13th Cityhood Anniversary today, capped by an exciting fight card dubbed ?Bakbakan sa Mandaluyong? at its historic gym where Filipino ring idol Manny Pacquiao first made a name for himself.

The main event features the PBF super bantamweight title fight between champion Sonny Gonzales from the Jay San Pedro stable and challenger Dante Cantiga from the stable of former fighter Aljoe Jaro. Gonzales has a record of 13-5 with 6 knockouts while Cantiga?s record is 12-4-2 with 3 KO?s.

The fights will be telecast on the top-rated weekly boxing show ?The Main Event? sponsored by Tanduay, the No. 1 Rhum, Philippine Amusements ^ Gaming Corporation (Pagcor) and the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO). An added attraction will be the two stunningly attractive Viva Hot Babes who will serve as Tanduay round girls including crowd favorite Carla Samonte.

In what promises to be a battle royale Jun Talape, the sparring partner of recently crowned OPBF bantamweight champion Rolly Lunas clashes with former Asian Boxing Council flyweight champion Rolly Mandahinog while former WBC international champion Roger Galicia clashes with a product of former champion Dino Olivetti?s stable, Richard Laano. In the fourth, ten round clash on what is bound to be an exciting fight card will be Richard Garcia who takes on Mario De Asis.

One of the most eagerly awaited fights on the card which is certain to draw another huge crowd will be the showdown between former Philippine, Pan Asian Boxing Association and WBC Youth champion Nino Suelo and two-time Pan Pacific title challenger Sherwin Manatad.
