Z ?The Dream? Gorres and Rey ?Boom Boom? Bautista arrived this morning from Los Angeles along with trainer Edito ?Ala ? Villamor who said both young fighters had trained hard at the Wild Card Gym of celebrated trainer Freddie in Los Angeles and were ?in great condition.?

Gorres, Bautista and Villamor were met at the airport by respected boxing patron Tony Aldeguer and his son Michael who has gradually assumed the mantle of his father in managing fighters of the famed ALA Gym.

Tony Aldeguer said the two fighters were ?a little tired but okay.? Villamor said Gorres and Bautista were ?in excellent shape and have no problems.? He said Gorres who had trouble with an abscessed tooth had recovered completely after being attended to by Dr.Ed de la Vega in LA and looked terrific in his final sparring session. Villamor said the flashy southpaw sparred with tough Dimitri Kirilov (28-3, 9 KO?s) and undefeated Mexican Giovanni Segura (16-0-1, 12 KO?s) while Bautista clashed with Mike Franco who is an undefeated American super bantamweight with 4 knockouts in 5 wins.

Both Gorres and Bautista who trained even during the December holiday season are confident of winning in the blockbuster fight card set for February 24 in Cebu City ,

Gorres finally gets his dream of fighting for a world title when he battles WBO champion Fernando Montiel while the undefeated Bautista takes on Latino boxing champion Feider Viloria for the WBO Intercontinental super bantamweight crown in the fight card to be staged by well-known Cebu promoter Sammy Gello-ani in cooperation with Golden Boy Promotions.

Montiel hadn?t signed the contract to fight Gorres until he received a 48 hour ultimatum from the WBO president to explain why, The Mexican promptly inked the deal and will arrive in Cebu about one week before the title fight.

Gorress earlier brushed off the boast of Montiel (32-2-1, 24 KO?s) that he will ?make sure Gorres does not finish the fight on his feet so I will not risk the title by a bad decision.? Gorres said there was no need for Montiel to worry about a hometown decision because he will take care of that himself by knocking out the Mexican. Gorres said Montiel ?talks a lot. Let?s see what happens when we meet in the ring.?
