The wrath of Yolanda caused havoc to thousands of lives and billions of properties in the Visayas region. It is the reason of the postponement of two significant activities already scheduled this month.

Idol Boxing Series Part 2 featuring Prince Albert Pagara and Indonesian Ruben Manakane will face each other at Maasin City Gym supposedly on November 15. But ALA Boxing Promotions and the Maasin City Government decided to postpone it to still an undermined date.

Meanwhile, the Batang Pinoy National Finals scheduled on November 19-23 was reset to January 28-February 1 next year. This was disclosed by Atty. Jay Alano, Batang Pinoy Project Director, in a text message after the decision was made by the Philippine Sports Commission.

Maasin City is still willing to send a delegation to Bacolod City. It experienced minimal damage as compared to other cities in Eastern Visayas particularly Tacloban and Ormoc City and the whole province of Leyte.

Economist Gov. Joey Salceda of Albay estimated the economic loss of Yolanda to be P604 billion whose effects are long term. And this could affect the participation of LGUs in the national youth games especially those of regions 6, 7 & 8. It also jeopardized the regional meets on these areas and the entries to the Palarong Pambansa.

On record, Yolanda is the world's strongest super typhoon ever to make landfall. Devastation may have weakened our body but not our spirits. We were down but definitely not out.

There's always a light at the end of the tunnel.
