CHICAGO -- With 7-foot center Brook Lopez doing serious damage in the paint, the Brooklyn Nets easily handled the Utah Jazz, 104-88, Tuesday night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
Lopez had a game-high 27 points and seven rebounds. He muscled his way through Utah's timid defense, making 10 of 13 field goals as the Nets shot 51.3 percent form the field overall.
Brooklyn, which improved to 2-2 in the young season, raced to an early first quarter lead and was never threatened.
In coach Jason Kidd's first victory as head coach, the Nets had other notable performers with Shaun Livingston and Paul Pierce each finishing with 11 points while Deron Williams and Andre Blatche added 1o markers apiece. Williams also had eight assists.
The Jazz got 22 points from Gordon Hayward while Enes Kanter added 21 points and eight rebounds. Derrick Favors, who recently signed a massive four-year deal struggled with six points and five rebounds.
Still winless after four games, Utah shot only 37.8 percent from the field (31-of-82 shots), including 4-of-18 from 3-point range. (Homer D. Sayson)
