Local fighter Joebert Alvarez to possibly train in the US after Saturday bout at Elorde

An addition to this Saturday?s boxing card at The Flash Grand Ballroom of the Elorde Sports Complex in Paranaque City is undefeated light flyweight prospect, Joebert Alvarez from General Santos City.

Alvarez, (12-0-1, 5 KOs) will be facing fellow province mate, Ronerex Dalut (8-12-2, 2 KOs) also of General Santos City in a 10 round fight according to Nonito Donaire Sr. who is planning big things for Alvarez.

Donaire Sr. and U.S. based boxing manager, Vincent Scolpino is looking at the 23 year old boxer and both are planning to train and manage him for possible fights in the States and Mexico.

Alvarez is currently being trained by local trainer, Jun Agrabio at the Yraola Boxing Gym in Quezon City.

?After this fight, if he wins, he?ll fly here in the States,? Donaire Sr. informed Philboxing.com.

The trainer said that they are possibly looking at challenging WBO flyweight and WBA Super World Flyweight champ, Juan Carlos Estrada.

Estrada has been a thorn to the side of Filipino boxing fans, by winning over Filipino fighters, Brian Viloria, where he took the two title belts from, and a successful defense against Milan Melindo, both in Macau, China in his last two bouts.

Donaire Sr. and Scolpino are excited about the young boxer?s future. Both have been instrumental in bringing another Filipino fighter, Marvin ?Good Boy? Mabait to the U.S. this year. Mabait won his first fight in Mexico against hometown favorite, Johnny Garcia in Mexico this month and is looking forward for future opportunities in the U.S. or Mexico.
