Manny Pacquiao and his team did not let an early delay derail their planned sparring session this week when the Filipino boxing superstar traded gloves with a local fighter at his Wild Card Gym in General Santos City.

Pacquiao exchanged blows with local middleweight prospect Marlon Alta, less than two months before his Macau showdown with Brandon Rios.

Assistant trainer Nonoy Neri informed Philboxing.com through this writer that Pacquiao and Alta figured in a three round sparring session Friday afternoon. Neri was the one who hired Alta after original spar mate, Min Wook Kim of South Korea failed to show up in the country this week.

?Sobrang bilis ni Manny, ang galing ng footwork.? was Neri?s description of the short session yesterday afternoon.

(Manny is too fast, his footwork is great.)

Alta, a fellow province mate of Pacquiao holds a professional record of 12 wins and 3 losses, with 9 of the wins by knockouts. A self-confessed fan of Pacquiao, he informed this Philboxing.com writer that the sparring session went really well.

Ok naman po, nag sparring kami kahapon ng 3 rounds. Next week, mag sparring na naman kami.? Alta said.

(It was ok, we sparred 3 rounds yesterday. Next week, we will spar again.)

Pacquiao is Manila bound today for a social commitment this weekend and his congressional duties on Monday but is planning to spend some time in his gym in Manila. He plans to spar again Saturday afternoon against an unnamed partner.
