CHICAGO -- The Chicago Bulls welcomed the upcoming 2013-14 NBA season on Friday afternoon by holding their annual Media Day event at their practice facility, the Sheri L. Berto Center in Deerfield.
Bulls GM Gar Forman opened festivities with a brief statement declaring that the current team has "the strongest starting five in recent years, obviously referring to the elite unit comprised of point guard Derrick Rose, defensive guard Jimmy Butler, small forward Luol Deng, power forward Carlos Boozer and Joakim Noah at center.
The Bulls are in "a really good place right now," Forman added.
Rose was unquestionably the star of the proceedings. After a 17-month layoff following surgery and rehabilitation of a torn ACL, the former MVP is finally back healthy and eager to make noise all over the league.
But while Rose said his confidence level is high, the coaching staff will monitor his minutes carefully. "We have parameters in place" said head coach Tom Thibodeau.
The Bulls will have twice-a-day practice sessions beginning tomorrow at the Berto Center. The play the Indiana Pacers in their preseason opener on October 5 at the Bankers Life Fieldhouse. Their first regular season game is October 29 against the defending champions Miami Heat at the American Airlines Arena. (Homer D. Sayson).
