Zamboanga City?s Marvin ?Good Boy? Mabait is slated to fight in his first fight in North America and his first outside the Philippines next month.

The 25 year old bantamweight will be facing Mexican Johnny Garcia in a bantamweight contest in Mexico, City on October 11th.

Mabait (18-1-2, 12 KOs) and his American manager, Vinny Scolpino, confirmed the fight to Philboxing.com. The bout will be a 12 round contest against Garcia (18-4-1, 9 KOs) who is the holder of the WBC Latino Super Flyweight belt. Garcia once challenged for the world title, losing by an 11th round knockout in the hands of WBO 115 champ, Omar Andres Narvaez of Argentina in 2012.

The young boxer is elated that he was given an early break in the States and promised to put up a good showing against his Mexican counterpart.

?Natutuwa po ako kasi nabigyan agad ako ng break dito. Gagawin ko po ang lahat ng makakaya ko para manalo sa labang ito,? Mabait told Philboxing.com.

(I am happy that I was granted an early break here. I will do my best to win this fight.)

Mabait moved to California last month and is currently training under Nonito Donaire Sr. at The Kennel Boxing Gym in San Leandro. He was told that Coach Donaire Sr. is planning to bring him to Oxnard, California to work and possibly spar with Nonito Donaire Jr. who is also preparing for a fight of his own.

?He is training hard with Coach Nonito and will have sparring with Nonito Jr.,? Scolpino informed Philboxing.com.

?Excited po ako kasi may matutunan din ako dun sa mga training niya at first time ko rin sya makasama sa training,? said Mabait.

(I am excited because I will learn from him and it will be my first time to train with him.)
