Emerging ring sensation Rey “Boom Boom” Bautista will battle WBC Latino super bantamweight champion Feider Luis Viloria Rodriguez who fights under the ring name Feider Viloria on the undercard of the WBO super flyweight championship bout between mandatory challenger Z “The Dream” Gorres and champion Fernando Montiel of Mexico on February 25 in Cebu City.

Respected boxing patron Tony Aldeguer told Viva Sports/Manila Standard Today that Bautista will battle Viloria for the vacant WBC Intercontinental title as well as the newly created WBO Youth Championship which means that the undefeated star from Candijay, Bohol will be going after two belts. Aldeguer disclosed that Viloria is ranked just outside the top ten by three world boxing organizations, the WBO, WBC and WBA. Viloria is rated No. 12 by the WBA, No.I4 by the WBO and No. 15 by the WBC.

The Colombian who reportedly stands at 5’7” has a record of 18-1-1 with 12 knockouts. In his last fight on November 17, 2006, Viloria scored a second round TKO victory over Alexander Monterrosa.

Viloria’s only loss was a fifth round knockout at the hands of Roinet Caballero on April 29, 2005. Since then he has won five of his last seven fights by stoppages – four KO’s and one TKO. Aldeguer said Colombian fighters, like all other Latinos are “always dangerous” and Bautista cannot underestimate his opponent.

The 20 year old Bautista is undefeated in 21 fights with 16 wins coming by way of knockouts. In his last appearance Bautista forced veteran Giovanni Andrade, the Brazilian super bantamweight champion to call it quits in the fourth round in a fight card at St. Pete Times Forum in Tampa. Florida with Bautista hammering Andrade who went into the fight with a record of 52-9 with 43 KO’s.

Golden Boy Promotions Oscar De La Hoya who was at ringside hailed Bautista as the next Manny Pacquiao of the Philippines although Bautista himself admitted there is only one Manny Pacquiao and he would like to create his own image as “Boom Boom” Bautista.

Both Bautista and Gorres who are battling the cold weather in the US continue their intensive training at the Wild Card Gym of celebrated trainer Freddie Roach aand are expected to return to Cebu in early February to wind down their preparation for the big challenges ahead of them.
