Manny Pacquiao aims to return to former glory with a win in Macau

New York -- Manny Pacquiao made his sentiments clear in the center of the media world today. He stated with confidence that he is far from being ?washed up? and he intends to prove that in November in Macau, China.
Pacquiao, 34, who is coming off a brutal knockout loss to Juan Manuel Marquez last year, will attempt to pick up the pieces of his once invincible career and restore his luster as one of today?s most feared pugilist.
The boxer who is still visibly reeling from that devastating defeat knows this and the impact it had on him, his career and his fans and countrymen whom he has dedicated his glorious wins in the past.
?In the last fight, many people thought that my boxing career has ended after that last fight. But my condition in that last fight was amazing and it was one of the best conditions of my boxing career. It just happened that on that 6th round, I got careless and so aggressive and he hit me with a good shot,? Pacquiao told a huge audience gathered in the first promotional event in US soil for his upcoming fight with 27 year old Brandon Rios.
He maintains he is still capable of showing it in the biggest sporting event ever scheduled in the peninsula of Macau, China which is touted as ?Asia?s Las Vegas.?
A win in any form, will not only erase that stigma but also lift the spirit of his nation who has always watched his every move in and out of boxing.
?Ito na, itong November 24, babalik tayo at ibabalik natin ang pangalan natin," Pacquiao simply stated when this writer asked him if he can address his fans and countrymen who have been saddened by that loss.
(This is it, on November 24, we will be back and we will restore our name.)
Pacquiao, who will have the longest hiatus of his career after that defeat in December, understands the importance of this fight. He wanted to regain his winning form after back to back setbacks last year, and bring back that diminished pride that his countrymen has for him.
?Mahalaga itong laban na ito na maipanalo natin dahil siyempre talo tayo sa nakaraang laban at para makapag-dala na naman tayo ng karangalan sa ating bansa.?
(It is important that we win this fight because we all know that we lost our last fight and so that we can bring honor again to our country.)
He refused to entertain thoughts of another defeat and maintains that he is still in outstanding physical and mental shape to outlast Rios in the ring when they meet in three months.
Manny Pacquiao is a picture and voice of optimism today in New York. He answered all questions thrown upon him without hesitation, this after a grueling international promotional trip that is aimed to boost sales of his first pay per view event outside of the States.
Will the greatest boxer out of Asia carry that same brand of confidence and calm when he steps in that squared ring again on November 24th?
