Former WBO minimum weight champion Moises Fuentes reinforced his No.1 light flyweight ranking and mandatory challenger status with a one-sided ten round unanimous decision over Gerardo ?Diablito? Verde in a parking lot showdown at Casino Caliente in Tijuana. Mexico.

All three judges scored the fight a near shutout for Fuentes, 99-91.

Fuentes relinquished his title and moved up in weight to challenge WBO 108 pound champion Donnie Nietes who retained his title with a majority draw last March 2 at the Waterfront Hotel and Casino in Cebu City.

American judges Adalaide Byrd and Pat Russel both scored it even at 114-114 while Filipino judge Danrex Tapdasan to whom the Fuentes camp had objected prior to the fight had Nietes the winner 115-113.

ALA Promotions president Michael Aldeguer is expected back from Dubai after meeting with executives of ABS-CBN?S The Filipino Channel in Dubai to discuss the prospects of staging the title rematch in the United Arab Emirates.

With the win over Verde, Fuentes improved to 17-1-1 with 8 knockouts while Verde, also a Mexican, dropped to 18-6-1 with 14 knockouts.
