ARUM GIVES DONAIRE THREE OPTIONS FOR HIS NEXT FIGHT

Top Rank promoter Bob Arum has given Nonito ?The Filipino Flash? three options for his planned return to the ring in either late October or early November.

Arum told the Manila Standard that he had given Donaire and his manager Cameron Dunkin the possible opponents. Arum said Dunkin ?is waiting for him (Donaire) to get back to him.?

The Top Rank said he had given Donaire, the former WBO, Ring Magazine and WBC Diamond Belt super bantamweight champion the choice of a rematch with Guillermo Rigondeaux who won the title from Donaire last April 13 at the Radio City Musical Hall in New York, former four division world champion Vic Darchinyan from whom Donaire won the IBO/IBF flyweight title with a spectacular 5th round knockout on July 7, 2007 or to move up to featherweight and face No.1 ranked Orlando Cruz of Mexico.

Donaire had earlier told us he was ready to face anybody they put in front of him but subsequently indicated in a conversation with the Standard ?I want a rematch (with Rigondeaux) more than anything else right now. I?m training right now and feeling good.?

He said his recovery from surgery on his shoulder because of a bone spur and two torn ligaments after the Rigondeaux fight is going well.

Darchinyan told us over a week ago that he would love to get a rematch with Donaire which he has been aching for since his loss to the classy Filipino, but indicated he preferred a September date which won?t suit Donaire since he is still recovering from surgery on his shoulder.

The opportunity for Donaire to move up in weight follows his close friend Mikey Garcia?s reported plan to move up in weight after he came in two pounds over the 126 pound limit in his title defense against former champion ?Juanma? Lopez over whom he scored a 4th round demolition after losing his title on the scales thus leaving the title vacant.

WBO president Francisco ?Paco? Valcarcel had announced that should Garcia decide to move up in weight he would order a face off for the vacant title between top contender Orlando Cruz (20-2-1 with 10 KO?s) and former champion Orlando Salido who lost the title to Garcia last January 19 by an 8th round technical decision.

Garcia had dropped Salido four times early in the fight and was well ahead on the judges scorecards when an accidental clash of heads in round eight broke Garcia?s nose forcing the referee to go to the scorecards as Garcia couldn?t continue.
