Maraon.
West Orange, New Jersey -- Bantamweight Jundy Maraon of the Philippines was knocked out by Juan Carlos Payano of the Dominican Republic in the 7th round of their scheduled ten round title (WBA) eliminator at the Richard Codey Arena in northern New Jersey.
Maraon fell after being hit in the head by a hard left hook from Payano which immediately took its toll on the Filipino slugger.
Maraon was counted out by the referee after falling in the canvas, awarding the win to Payano who remained unbeaten with this victory.
Maraon spent a long time in the floor as his team and the ring side physician came to his aid.
This is Payano's 14th straight victory, conquering eight of them by knockouts such as what he did to Maraon.
Meantime, Maraon suffered the first setback of his seventeen fight career and this one in a hurtful manner.
Jundy Maranon was rushed to the nearest hospital after the fight. His team members informed Philboxing that "he's okay" and he was brought in for further testing and as a precautionary measure after he suffered the knock out.
