Philippine super flyweight champion Ardin Diale has lost in his quest for the vacant WBO Oriental title, dropping a twelve round unanimous decision to Petchangborn Kokietgym in a fight card at the Provincial Stadium in the North-Eastern Thai province of Chaiyaphum.
All three judges scored the fight for the 27 year old Thai who improved his record to 21-6-1 with 8 knockouts.
Two judges scored it 115-113 for the Thai fighter while the third judge scored it for the hometown fighter by a wider 117-111 margin.
In his previous fight Petchangborn won the vacant Pan Asia Boxing Association flyweight title with a unanimous twelve round decision over another Filipino, Michael Escobia where he walked Escobia down and out-punched him.
Media reports said there was nothing fancy, but it was a good fight even as the champion is considered still just a prospect.
With the loss the 24 year old Diale dropped to 20-8-3 with 7 knockouts. Nicknamed ?The Spoiler? Diale won the Philippine title with a 6th round knockout of Ryan Bito last September 28.
He had earlier lost by a 2nd round knockout to Mexico?s Juan Francisco Estrada who went on to win the WBO and WBA flyweight titles with an impressive victory over Brian Viloria last April 6 in Macau.
In a supporting bout Escobia lost by a six round unanimous decision to bantamweight Ratchasak Kokietgym, the 21 year old Thai who pushed his record to 16-2-1 with 7 knockouts while the 22 year old Escobia fell to 10-5-1 with 2 knockouts.
