MP Promotions which is stepping up its efforts to acquire the promotional rights of Filipino boxers, has reached an agreement with the manager of flyweight Ivan ?Bomba? Soriano, Dr. Rajan Yraola, to give Soriano an eight round bout in a Top Rank promotion at the Sands Resort and Casino in Singapore on September 21.

Pacquiao?s adviser Michael Koncz told the Manila Standard that he had spoken to Yraola and that ?after we evaluate Ivan?s performance we will sit down and decide if we will enter into a long term promotional agreement.?

Dr. Yraola minutes later confirmed the agreement and told the Standard that that the purse offer was ?good? adding that Koncz did not even ask for a percentage of the purse which is normal.

The manager said that after his last fight in which he scored an 8th round technical decision in a rematch with former Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation champion Michael Landero last March 9, Soriano took a two week break but was now back in the gym and training hard under coach Jun Agrabio.

He said Soriano who is ranked No. 3 by the OPBF in the minimum weight division ?is ready to fight? and expressed his confidence in him.

In his rematch with Landero, Soriano dropped the former OPBF champion in the first round but was deducted a point in the 5th round because of an accidental head-butt when Landero was cut. The end came at 0:42 of the 8th round when another clash of heads resulted in both fighters suffering cuts with Landero declared unfit to continue.

Referee Virgilio Garcia then went to the scorecards with all three judges having Soriano comfortably ahead. Warren Jaro scored it 77-72, Elmer Lopez 77-73 and Salvador Lopez 78-73.

In their first clash on September 28, Soriano won the Philippine Boxing Federation light flyweight interim title with a unanimous ten round decision over Landero. The scores were 100-90 Jerrold Tomeldan, 98-92 Rey Danseco and 97-93 Greg Ortega.
