The World Boxing Council says the eagerly awaited showdown between undefeated pound for pound king, WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr and unbeaten WBC super welterweight champion Saul ?Canelo? Alvarez will be unbelievable.

The WBC website quoted Mayweather who said ?Canelo is young, he?s hungry and he?s going to bring the best out of Floyd Mayweather. So we?ll just see how the fight plays out come September 14. I can?t wait!?

Mayweather said that ?the best title for this fight is ?The Best vs The Best? because at this particular time they say he?s the best super welterweight and I feel like I?m the best fighter in the world. And so, the people want to see the best against the best.?

Mayweather has a record of 44-0 with 26 knockouts and is coming off a lopsided twelve round decision over an over-matched Robert ?The Ghost? Guerrero last May 4 while Alvarez who has a record of 42-0-1 with 30 knockouts dropped talented Austin Trout in the 7th round en route to a dominant unanimous twelve round decision last April 20.

Alvarez recalled that he had been offered a Mayweather fight some two years ago but his handlers turned it down because they believed ?Canelo? was not ready but it?s a different story now as Alvarez told boxingscene.com ?now we are confident that we can win and we know we can win.?

The 22 year old champion who is the most popular fighter in Mexico said ?we are prepared and we are ready? for the fight which is set at a catch-weight of 152 pounds, prompting Alvarez to state that he will ?work a little harder (to make the catch-weight) but everything will be okay.?
