The US debut of Anecito ?Dondon? Gesta Jr. failed to bring him and his team the results that they were anticipating last Saturday. The 23 year old Cebuano succumbed to a Majority Decision defeat against last minute replacement, Pablo Cupul of Merida, Mexico in a 4 round super featherweight contest held in San Diego, California.

The Mexican garnered scores of 39-37 on two judges? cards and a tie on a third to spoil Gesta Jr.?s coming out party in front of family and friends at the Del Mar Fairgrounds.

Gesta Jr. expressed disappointment over the loss and the way the judges scored the fight which he and his team believed he won.

?I was little disappointed about the decision, we had a clear video record on it and we watched it. The guy never won any round, he kept moving forward but didn't land (any) clean shot,? said a disheartened Gesta Jr.

It was an observation that Vince Parra, his manager agrees to.

?Judging just makes me crazy sometime, Gesta landed the big shots and had the guy hurt on a few occasions! Good fight, bad call,? said Parra.

But the young boxer accepted the defeat and decision and vowed to continue training hard for future fights.

?I respect the judges and there?s nothing I can do about it anymore. I just think that it?s a good lesson for me and maybe next time I?ll be better,? expressed Gesta Jr.

Gesta Jr. who was supported by a large number of his countrymen during the event will go forward with his training regimen under his father Gesta Sr. and alongside brother Mercito at the CMAC-BID Gym in San Diego.

?Galing ako sa pamilya na magagaling sa combat sport at di sila nawawalan ng pag asa sa akin. Di ko rin kayang talikuran ang mga sumuporta sa akin at nag-cheer up kaya babalik ako stronger and faster,? he stated.

(I came from a family that excelled in combat sports and they are not giving up on me. I also cannot turn my back on everyone who supported and cheered me up that is why I will come back stronger and faster.)

?I will try to prove what I?m capable of. I will train even more.?
