Three Filipino boxers will see action on Friday in a fight card at the Town Hall in Malvern, Melbourne, Australia on a presentation of well-known promoter Peter Maniatis.
Maniatis told the Manila Standard "I always try my best to help Filipino boxers and put them on my events because Filipino boxers fight with tremendous heart and spirit and are very good sportsmen."
30 year old Anton Olarte (17-22-8, 4 KO's) clashes with 21 year old Michael Zerafa who is undefeated with 10 wins including 5 knockouts in a ten round light middleweight bout.
Maniatis believes that despite the fact that Zerafa is unbeaten, "its a 50-50 bout."
Olarte is coming off a ten round unanimous decision win over Ofeti Tagi whom he dropped three times en route to the victory last March 16 while Zerafa is coming off a 3rd round TKO of Richard Kenneth Carr last April 19.
Brisbane-based 24 year old Michael Dan Rubio who has won his last two fights will take on 20 year old light middleweight Ben Capps who has a record of 4-1-1 with 1 knockout. Once again Maniatis tells us this is a 50-50 matchup.
The third Filipino fighter to see action is Michael Correa who goes up against Terry Tzouramanis, a 27 year old light welterweight with a record of 9-1-3 with 2 knockouts.
The promoter believes "this will be a decent contest" although there is no record of Correa on boxrec.com.
