NBA - Hawks even series with Pacers at 2-2

CHICAGO -- The Atlanta Hawks watched their 19-point first half lead melt down to five early in the fourth quarter, but they weathered the storm in the homestretch to escape Game 4 of the Eastern Conference quarterfinals with a 112-91 triumph over the Indiana Pacers Monday night at the Philips Arena.
Josh Smith had a solid double-double with 29 points and 11 rebounds. Kyle Korver came off the bench with 19 points while Al Horford chipped in 18 as the sixth seeded Hawks tied their best-of-7 series against the third seeded Pacers at two games apiece. Game 5 is Wednesday night at the Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
Atlanta sank 11 of 24 three-point shots and 33 of 74 field goals overall. The Hawks also missed 13 of 38 free throws.
"Energy and effort. If we play with those things and play together we're a pretty good basketball team. We contested pretty much every jump shot they took. That's what it will take for us to compete in their arena," Smith told NBA.com while looking forward to Game 5 in Indy, where the Hawks badly lost Games 1 and 2 last week.
"You're not going to win on another team's floor when you have a 35-19 quarter. Smith's getting the boards, he's shooting 3s and he's making shots. He's being active and he's getting to the free throw line," said All-Star Paul George who led Indiana with 21 points and 12 rebounds and David West turned in 15, but the Pacers shot just 32 of 84 field goals (38.1 percent), including 7-for-23 from 3-point range (30.4 percent).
