
TV RATINGS ESTABLISH DONAIRE AS A GENUINE STAR

If the television ratings of his unification title fight against WBA super bantamweight champion and former Cuban Olympic two-time gold medalist Guillermo Rigondeaux is any indication, then Nonito ?The Filipino Flash? Donaire has established his standing as a genuine star.
The ratings for Total Philippines in the telecast over ABS-CBN Channel 2 last April 14 was a remarkable 33.3 percent while the boxing hotbeds of Visayas and Mindanao registered even higher ratings.
Donaire lost his WBO, Ring Magazine and WBC Diamond Belt to Rigondeaux at the iconic Radio City Music Hall in New York City.
The Total Visayas rating for the Donaire-Rigongdeaux was 40.6 percent with Urban Visayas registering 40.3 percent and Rural Visayas 40.9 percent.
Total Mindanao numbers was a flat 40.0 percent with Urban Mindanao reporting a 37.7 percent rating and Rural Mindanao 41.7 percent.
A further breakdown of the ratings showed Urban Philippines turning in a 30.6 percent rating and Rural Philippines 31.1 percent.
Mega Manila turned in a rating of 28.1 percent which was higher than the Suburbs rating of 24.6 percent.
Northern Luzon registered a rating of 36.5 percent, Urban North Luzon 34.0 percent with Rural North Luzon a high 38.0 percent
The Total Central Luzon rating was 23.5 percent with Urban Central Luzon registering 27.1 percent while Total South Luzon reported a 34.3 percent, Rural South Luzon 32.3 percent and Urban South Luzon a extremely high 38.0 percent.
