Terrazas (L).
Dethroned WBO/Ring Magazine and WBC Diamond Belt super bantamweight champion Nonito ?The Filipino Flash? Donaire is likely to face newly crowned WBC champion Victor ?Vikingo? Terrazas sometime in October.

Donaire who is recovering well from surgery to remove a bone spur and to mend two torn ligaments on his right shoulder last Friday will not move up in weight and face Juan Manuel ?Juanma? Lopez as initially broached by Top Rank promoter Bob Arum who told the Manila Standard that Donaire ?wont be back till October and maybe he?ll fight Terrazas.?

2012 ?Trainer of the Year? Robert Garcia told the Standard he honestly believes it would be best for ?The Filipino Flash? to stay at 122 pounds and fight Terrazas even as there were reports that WBO champion Mikey Garcia, Robert?s younger brother, may fight Lopez or No. 1ranked Orlando Cruz sometime in June.

Terrazas won the WBC super bantamweight title relinquished by Abner Mares who moved up in weight, with a twelve round split decision over former super flyweight champion Cristian Mijares in Mexico City last Saturday.

The 30 year old Terrazas has a record of 36-2-1 with 21 knockouts and has a twelve round unanimous decision win over former WBC bantamweight champion Fernando ?Cochulito? Montiel in a clash for the vacant WBC Silver super bantamweight on November 19, 2011 to his name.

In a conversation with The Manila Standard, the 2012 Boxing Writers Association of America ?Trainer of the Year? admitted that Team Donaire ?made a lot of mistakes? in the unification title bout against WBA super bantamweight champion Guillermo Rigondeaux at the Radio City Music Hall in New York last April 13.

Garcia said the primary mistake was ?thinking that one punch would do it? and put away former two-time Olympic gold medalist Guillermo Rigondeaux.

Garcia conceded they ?didn?t realize they were in with a great fighter. That was his night and he (Rigondeaux) fought smart.?

The dethroned WBO, Ring Magazine and WBC Diamond Belt 122 pound champion?s trainer said ?I wasn?t surprised with his speed I already knew he was fast, powerful and very accurate.?

For his next fight Donaire?s trainer indicated he would ?spend more time in training and look at tapes of his opponent? which is something they didn?t do for the Rigondeaux fight.

Garcia insisted ?we need to do that,? He said it would be ?mandatory and we will meet and work on this. We need to do it.?
