More Pinoy Pride in Davao if?.

DAVAO CITY (April 18) PNA ? There will be another edition of the Pinoy Pride here if ever the ticket sales from Saturday night?s inaugural staging in Davao City will be successful at the University of Southeastern Philippines (USEP) Gym in Bo. Obrero.
?It will really depend on the turnout this Saturday, and hopefully we can fill up the gym,? said the dashing boxing promoter Michael Aldeguer of the ALA Promotions today at the presscon held at the Royal Mandaya Hotel.
Aldeguer, son of boxing patron Antonio Aldeguer of Cebu, is hoping to fill up the 8,000 seater air-conditioned gymnasium.
?If we will fill up the arena then we can have another one. We might even bring a world-title fight here,? said Aldeguer, who was really impressed on how the boxing fans welcomed his prized ward Rey ?Boom-Boom? Bautista here in Davao City.
Bautista will be making his first title-defense of the World Boxing Organization (WBO) International featherweight title against Mexican challenger Jose ?Negro? Ramirez.
The native of Bohol re-iterated that ?somebody will be knocked out in their scheduled 12-rounder fight?
?Although I am prepared to fight for 12 rounds, I will still go for a knockout if ever I will get a chance,? said Bautista, who has a fight record of 34 wins with 25 Kos, two losses and no draw.
Ramirez, 24 wins, 15 KO, 3 loses, revealed through his interpreter Isi Arredondo, that he ?came here to fight and will take the title away from Bautista.?
?In fact, he (Ramirez) said that his next target is already the world title,? Arredondo said.
Chief trainer Edito Villamor, however, said that Bautista is already 100 percent ready to fight. Bautista, now ranked No. 4 contender both by the WBO and IBF, was already only one pound over from the required weight limit of 126 lbs. yesterday while Ramirez?s trainer told the media that their ?boxer is just on the way.?
Aldeguer said that they still don?t have any definite next plan for Bautista after the fight.
?His career will really depend on Saturday,? said Aldeguer, who wants an eliminator fight in the International Boxing Federation or a WBO title-crack.
At Friday 12 noon is the official weigh-in at the SM City of Davao under the supervision of the Games and Amusements Board and Thailand-based WBO International supervisor Leon Panoncillo.
Veteran Bruce McTavis of New Zealand is the third man on the ring while the judges are Salven Lagumbay, Danrex Tapdasan and Eduard Ligas, all from the Philippines.
Pitted in the main supporting bout is undisputed Orient Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) flyweight king Rocky ?The Road Warrior? Fuentes of the Philippines against the diminutive Juan ?Loquito? Kantun of Mexico.
Fuentes (34 wins, 20 KO, 6 loses, 2 draws), likewise, vowed to win against Kantun (20 wins, 15 KO, 3 loses, 3 draws) and said that he was also not affected by the recent back-to-back setbacks of the three former world Filipino champions Manny Pacquiao, Brian Viloria and Nonito Donaire.
?In fact, we are more encouraged to win our fight,? said Fuentes, who has already successfully defended his title six times in Japan.
Fuentes, a former Philippine flyweight champion, is presently ranked No. 3 both by the World Boxing Council (WBC) and IBF, no. 4 by WBO and no. 5 in the World Boxing Association (WBA).
Kantun, a look-alike of the former world champion Eric Morales but has a height advantage against Fuentes is the reigning WBC Youth World Super flyweight champion and has won four of his fights via a KO in the first round. Twelve of Kantun?s wins via KO did not last three rounds.
Another exciting bout to watch is the championship fight between OPBF super flyweight title-holder King Arthur Villanueva of ALA Gym and challenger Marco Singwancha of Wakee Salud Stable.
Villanueva, a former Philippine flyweight champion, undefeated in 19 fights and has stopped all of his nine straight opponents from 2009-2011 has a record of 20 wins, 11 KO with no loss or draw. Singwancha, however, is also undefeated and is the current Philippine super flyweight champion and former RP bantamweight king. He has knocked out all of his six rivals in his last six fights.
?The Villanueva-Singwancha fight could steal the show since both are undefeated and are good fighters,? said ALA Promotions vice-president Dennis Ca?ete.
Also featured in the undercard are upcoming Mark Vincent Bernaldez (9 wins, 5 KO) of the Philippines versus former Indonesia Boxing Association (IBA) super bantamweight champion Arief ?The Ice? Blader (17 wins, 6 KO, 9 loses, 1 draw) of Indonesia; Engelbert Moralde of Davao City vs. Abel Gayhon of Malaybalay, Bukidnon (112 lbs.-6 rds.); John Vincent Moralde of Davao vs. Juvel Gayhon of Bukidnon (115 lbs.-6 rds.); Kim Galon of Davao City vs. Joselito Tabago of Koronadal (4 rds.-105 lbs.); Glendon Ramos of Davao vs. Jessie Suacasa of Koronadal (4 rds.-110 lbs.).
Tickets pegged at P3,000, P2,000, P1,500, P1,000, P500 and P150 are still available at ticketing office of SM Davao, SM Lanang and USEP gym. LITO DELOS REYES.
