Mexico?s Gamaliel Diaz suffered a bad beating at the hands of Japan?s tough Takashi Miura who dropped the super featherweight champion four times on his way to a rousing 9th round TKO in a big fight card in Tokyo.

It was sweet revenge for the Japanese whose former champion Takahiro Ao, a one time sparring partner of Mexican legend Marco Antonio Barrera, had lost the title to Diaz in what was regarded as a stunning upset last October.

The fight was stopped at 1:21 of the 9th round after Diaz had his eye shut from the battering he took.

Miura improved his record to 25-2-2 with 19 knockouts after failing to win the title in his first attempt against countryman Takashi Uchiyama losing by an 8th round TKO in 2011.

Diaz dropped to 37-10-2 with 17 knockouts.

Former WBC flyweight champion Malcolm Tunacao seeks his second world title in a bantamweight showdown with undefeated southpaw champion Shinsuke Yamanaka in the main event.
