Filipino junior bantamweight Eduard Penerio has been knocked out in the first round of an eight round bout in a fight card titled ?African Glory III? at Carnival City in Johannesburg.

Penerio was counted out against Zolani Tete at 2:37 of the opening round.

Prior to the fight South African media reported ?it looks as if this may be a tricky assignment for Tete to negotiate with his opponent bringing an impressive record of 15 wins with 10 KO?s and a single loss, with him.?

However, it was noted that Tete?s record was ?just as impressive, in fact more so, given that he has bombed out 14 of his 16 victims and only lost three times with all of them coming at the highest level.?

Tete nicknamed ?Last Born? took the chance to re-emerge as a future hope with his stunning first round knockout.

Well-known promoter Branco Milenkovic said with the win he would try to steer Tete towards another world title.

Tete?s first loss was against reigning world flyweight champion Moruti Mthalane when he was stopped in five rounds. Tete also lost in two IBF eliminators against Juan Alberto Rosas in a close super flyweight majority decision in Mexico in 2011 and a controversial split decision to Roberto Sosa in Argentina last year.
