WBO/WBA flyweight champion Brian Viloria is ready for Mexican warrior Juan Francisco Estrada when they clash in a big Top Rank fight card in Macau on April 6.
Viloria told the Manila Standard that ?training has been going great? under the watchful eye of Marvin Somodio, the young Filipino assistant of the celebrated Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach at the Wild Card Gym in Los Angeles.
Viloria said he is very happy that the fight is being carried by HBO Sports because ?its something I?ve been looking forward to for a long time.?
His spirits lifted by news of the HBO telecast Viloria added, ?I will take that moment to do my best and entertain the fans.?
Viloria noted that Estrada ?is a warrior and tough like most Mexican fighters but I?ve done my homework and know how to pull off a win.?
The two division world champion said he?s been sparring with outstanding, two-time Olympic flyweight gold medalist Zou Shiming of China and Ricardo Rodriguez and ?sparring has been going great, just perfect.?
Informed that promoter Bob Arum who has high hopes for Zou has told us that somewhere down the road Viloria may have to defend his title against the former amateur three-time world champion Viloria ?he has to get his bearings (as a pro) first.?
However, he did say that Zou Shiming ?is quite quick fisted but doesn?t have much power. I kind of expected that because of his amateur background. But he?s got great foot speed ring generalship.?
After twelve years as a pro Viloria indicated he is ?still enjoying boxing.? He indicated ?I?m doing the necessary changes not only for being young in the sport but also maintaining the passion. I?m just implementing all the things I?ve learned in the past, correcting mistakes and being able to adjust to a lot of things.?
Besides Viloria, the No.1 ranked Milan Melindo and the promising Penalosa brothers Dodie Boy Jr and Dave will see action on the blockbuster Macau card which will be telecast by the giant broadcast network ABS-CBN.
