The young pro boxer who was discovered by celebrated Hall-of-Fame trainer when he was training Manny Pacquiao in Baguio City and was recruited by Roach as an assistant is doing particularly well at the Wild Card Gym in Los Angeles.

Somodio, who trained WBO champion Brian Viloria for his unification title fight against hard-hitting WBA champion Mexican Hernan ?Tyson? Marquez and who lost to Viloria by a 10th round TKO and is currently training the WBO/WBA champion for his title defense against Juan Francisco Estrada in Macau on April 6 is, according to Viloria, ?doing great.?

Viloria said Somodio also played a key role in helping Roach prepare Ruslan Provodnikov for his war with WBO welterweight champion Timothy ?Desert Storm? Bradley which was such a great fight and attracted some 1.4 million pay-per-view buys on HBO Sports.

Viloria said it was a terrific fight but that Provodnikov lost a close decision ?because he took some rounds off and Bradley was able to steal some rounds. This cost him the fight.?

Viloria also noted that Provodnikov, the chief sparring partner of Manny Pacquiao when he was training for his fights against Bradley and Juan Manuel Marquez ?neglected to throw more body shots which would have helped him in the long run because Bradley was on his bike. It could have slowed him down.?
