Porras, Maraon Stop Foes!

M?LANG, North Cotabato ? Former Philippine Boxing Federation (PBF) bantamweight king Glen ?The Rock? Porras landed two solid punches to knockout Reggie Benueza in the fourth round last Saturday night (Dec. 9) at the M?lang gym here.
The 22-year old Porras from the Braveheart Stable of Gov. Manny Pi?ol first connected a left uppercut to stagger Benueza hear the ropes.
Porras then followed it up with left-fight combinations before ending it with a bombing left cross to the face en route to a shocking knockout in one minute and 24 seconds.
Benueza, 20, fell down on his knees with his face lying on the canvas for almost three minutes. Porras improved his ring record to nine wins, no loss and two losses with five knockouts.
In the main event, promising Jundy ?Pretty Boy? Marson of Vice
Mayor Lito Pi?ol Stable also kayoed Butuan?s Markyl Taroja in 1:25 of the third round.
The best fight of ?The Grand Encounter? card featured Glenn
?Rapid Fire? Gonzales of Braveheart Stable against William Jorge of Koronadal City (122 lbs.).
?There should be a rematch for it was the best fight,? said Gov.
Pi?ol.Gonzales kept connecting solid left-right combinations in the first two rounds before landed a stinging left cross to close the left eye of Jorge in the third period.
?Kulang kasi ako ng practice dahil nagbakasyon ako,? Jorge said.
The other results: Edrin ?The Sting? Dapudong of Braveheart Stable stopped Butuan?s Meljun Grumo in just 37 seconds of the first round; Jhonny Cadigal of Tulunan TKO?d Butuan?s JR Jacinto in the first round; Reginald Isungga beat Butuan?s Darylwin Amuncio by a unanimous decision.
The boxing card, which was free to the public, was sponsored by Gov. Pi?ol and Vice Mayor Pi?ol in celebration of the 53rd birthday of Gov. Pi?ol.
