ARUM?S ADVICE: FORGET PACQUIAO?MAYWEATHER FIGHT

Top Rank promoter Bob Arum isn?t buying Floyd Mayweather Jr?s statement that he would consider fighting Filipino boxing hero Manny Pacquiao should Pacquiao be able to avenge his defeats at the hands of Timothy ?Desert Storm? Bradley and Mexico?s Juan Manuel Marquez.

When asked to respond to Mayweather?s statement about what Pacquiao needed to accomplish to make a fight against the undefeated pound-for-pound No.1 possible, Arum said ?just forget him (Mayweather).?

Arum is focused right now on trying to get a fifth fight between Pacquiao and Marquez finalized as planned sometime in September.

The Top Rank promoter told the Manila Standard that he would meet with Marquez over dinner on Tuesday night (Wednesday in Manila) and ?then we?ll know where we are? in terms of getting a fifth fight done.

Marquez had previously stated that he saw no need to fight Pacquiao for a fifth time following his crushing 6th round knockout victory last December 8 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. It was a position supported by his trainer Ignacio ?Nacho? Beristain and WBC president Don Jose Sulaiman.

Arum interpreted Marquez? stance as a negotiating posture in an effort to see how he could earn a bigger purse for a fifth fight.

While Pacquiao?s adviser Michael Koncz is in the US, Arum told us he ?won?t be in the dinner meeting? with Marquez but that he had met with Koncz earlier and they "went over everything."

Mayweather is scheduled to fight Robert ?The Ghost? Guerrero on May 4 in Las Vegas and Arum believes ?its going to be a fight and I think Guerrero has a helluva shot. I really believe that.?
