No matter what his record is, light flyweight challenger Moises Fuentes of Mexico doesn?t bother reigning WBO champion Donnie Nietes.
ALA Promotions patron Tony Aldeguer was reacting to reports that Fuentes, the WBO minimum weight champion had a better record than the one reported by boxrec.com.
Cebu-based Mexican Mike Lopez who works in the corner of visiting Hispanic fighters said Fuentes? manager Jorge Barrera, brother of former world champion and Mexican legend Marco Antonio Barrera said the official record of the challenger is 26-1 with 20 knockouts and not 16-1, 8 knockouts as reported by boxrec.com.
Aldeguer said that ?even if he has more fights and some were not recorded, he is beatable and while Nietes is ready for a tough fight his experience should make a difference.?
Nietes was reported ?in his best shape ever and ready to rumble? against the Mexican challenger who enjoys a height advantage and is known to have some punching power.
Although Fuentes is coming off a 5th round TKO win over former Puerto Rican star Ivan Calderon last October 6, Aldeguer noted that Calderon was on his way down. He also pointed out that Nietes had dropped undefeated Filipino super bantamweight Ralph ?Bomber?Lulu (6-0-2,3 KO?s) with a vicious right straight during a recent sparring session.
The Nietes-Fuentes title fight will have Jack Reiss as referee with Adalaide Byrd, Pat Russel and Filipino Danrex Tapdasan as judges with WBO Asia Pacific vice president Leon Panoncillo as supervisor.
The fight will be telecast on the hugely successful ABS-CBN ?Pinoy Pride? series starting at 10:15 a.m. on March 3 over the network?s pre-eminent Channel 2 and also on The Filipino Channel.
