Hard-hitting Mexican David ?Tornado? Sanchez has vowed to destroy Filipino Marlon Tapales in their WBC bantamweight Silver title fight at the Sonora State Gymnasium in Hermosillo, Mexico on Sunday, Manila Time.
Sanchez who has a record of 21-2-2 with 16 knockouts paid a courtesy call on Mayor Alejandro Lopez Caballero and later told the WBC website ?It was a nice chat. I thanked him for all his support and for hosting this fight in Hermosillo. I wanted him to know he has been key to my career.?
Sanchez said he ?respects his rival (Tapales) but once the bell rings I will destroy him and the victory will be mine.?
The 20 year old Tapales has a record of 20-1-with 7 knockouts and is more of a boxer than a big puncher.
A fighter from the stable of Rex ?Wakee? Salud, Tapales is in Mexico with veteran trainer Juanito Ablaca who reportedly told Mexican media that Tapales is there to win and take the belt back to the Philippines.
The regular WBC bantamweight champion is Japan?s 30 year old undefeated southpaw Shinsuke Yamanaka (17-0-2, 12 KOs) who will defend his title against former WBC flyweight champion and OPBF bantamweight champion Malcom ?Eagle Eye? Tunacao himself a southpaw with a record of 32-2-3, with 20 knockouts in Tokyo on April 8.
