WBO International flyweight champion and world No. 1 Milan Melindo will battle Indonesia?s No. 1 ranked light flyweight Tommy Seran in the blockbuster Top Rank card in Macau on April 6 to be telecast by the giant broadcast network ABS-CBN.
Melindo who is in line for a mandatory title shot against reigning WBO champion Brian Viloria who also holds the WBA crown, won the International title with a twelve round majority decision over Venezuela?s Jean Piero Perez last September 22.
The undefeated 24 year old has a record of 28-0 with 11 knockouts while Seran who is 29 has lost only once in compiling a 23-1 record with 14 knockouts.
Seran won the WBO Asia Pacific light flyweight interim title with a twelve round unanimous decision over Filipino Jayson Rotoni and successfully defended the title with a twelve round split decision over another Filipino, Fernando Ocon, last November 16.
ALA Promotions president Michael Aldeguer expects a tough fight for Melindo even as he awaits a WBO decision on the mandatory title shot against Viloria.
Aldeguer said he agreed to allow Viloria to defend his title against Estrada on the same Macau card because he ?didn?t want to get in the way of Brian? even as he disclosed that there are plans for a possible fight against hard-hitting Mexican Hernan ?Tyson? Marquez at the Mall of Asia on June 15.
Marquez lost his WBA title by a 10th round TKO to Viloria at the Los Angeles Sports Arena last November 17.
