Manny Pacquiao?s sparring partner Frankie Gomez easily won his first ten round bout beating Houston?s Lanard Lane in a welterweight bout that was the main event at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas.

Ringside reporters Anthony Springer and Andreas Hale said ?It was like watching a lion play with the prey before the big kill ? except the kill never happened.?

The undefeated Gomez (15-0, 11 KOs) dominated Lanard Lane (13-3, 8 KOs) en route to a lopsided unanimous decision with all three judges scoring the fight for Gomez.

Burt Clements scored it 98-92 while Duane Ford and Jerry Roth both had Gomez winning by a 100-90 shutout.

A prot?g? of celebrated trainer Freddie Roach, the 21 year old Gomez ,nicknamed ?Pit Bull?, wanted to test himself over ten rounds since coming off a 1st round knockout over Pavel Miranda in an eight round bout last December 15, one week after Pacquiao suffered a crushing 6th round knockout at the hands of Juan Manuel Marquez at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

The 30 year old Lane who is a full-time firefighter in Houston, Texas and is nicknamed ?The Fighting Fireman? was coming off an eight round majority decision over Joseph Elegele last June 2.

In a post fight interview Lane claimed he was off and that Gomez wasn?t able to hurt him.
