Koncz.
Manny Pacquiao?s adviser Michael Koncz was scheduled to leave for the US on Wednesday for a series of important meetings which seemed to be geared towards strengthening MP Promotions rather than trying to arrange a tune-up fight for Pacquiao this April prior to a planned fifth showdown with Juan Manuel Marquez in September.

Prior to his departure, Koncz told the Manila Standard that he has a meeting on Thursday in Los Angeles with ?a very influential and respected gentleman out of New York involved in the stock market and also Michael King who is in LA and is involved in television distribution.?

He said King had ?dabbled in boxing and they want to do something with us. They want to invest in Manny and invest in the sport of boxing.?

Koncz said he would like to see ?what transpires out of this meeting and then together with ?50 Cent? and some of the fighters he has. What we are hoping to do with MP Promotions as a group, a partnership. I think we can make MP Promotions a truly viable, competitive company.?

While MP Promotions has no fights lined up at the moment, Koncz revealed ?we will start heavily recruiting. Honestly, we have good boxers but we need to find great boxers.?

He said they signed up Pacquiao?s Russian sparring partner Ruslan Provodnikov (22-1, 15 KO?s) and we are going to heavily recruit in Mexico where we all have to admit they have some great boxers.?

Koncz said they had informed Top Rank promoter Bob Arum of their plans to sign up Mexican fighters ?out of respect? even as he pointed out that fighters in Mexico wind up with Golden Boy because they have no choice. They don?t want to go to Fernando (Beltran) for various reasons and Fernando is the one that takes them to Top Rank, so there?s no competition.?

He said the Mexican network Televisa is interested in working with Manny. The other problem is Beltran has Azteca so they are tied to them.?

Kioncz expressed confidence that now that they have strengthened the organization with the recruitment of former Top Rank matchmaker Sean Gibbons among others, MP Promotions has ?a group of guys working with us and I think we are going to make something out of MP Promotions.?
