The Filipino co-trainer of five time world champion, Zab Judah shares the sentiments of his ward nowadays. Both trainer and boxer are disappointed on the cancellation of their February 9th title match against unified 140 belt holder, Danny Garcia in New York.

?Medyo matamlay kasi matagal kaming nag-ensayo.? (We are dejected because we trained for a long time.) expressed the former boxer who helps train Judah at the UFC Gym in Las Vegas

East said that the team trained for about five months in preparation for the fight originally scheduled for next week at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. They were all prepared to make the trip to the East Coast this Saturday but plans changed when Garcia, the WBC and WBA Junior Welterweight Champ, pulled out of the fight last week citing a rib injury as the culprit. The fight is postponed for April 27th at the same venue.

?Galit siya, galit.? (He?s mad, he?s mad.) described East of Judah who still continues training with him at the gym.

Judah expressed his disappointment over the social media platform Twitter and even expressed doubts on the authenticity of his opponent?s injury.

East seconded his boxer?s feelings and puts the blame on the Garcia camp.

?Hindi tama iyon. Malaking laban ito at hindi biro ito. Hindi tama iyon.? (That is not right. This is a big fight and this is not a joke. That is not right.) said East.

?Pero tuloy pa rin ang ensayo, sa workout at sparring.? (But we will still train, both workout and sparring) added East, who at 19, is the youngest Filipino to capture a world title. His historic feat came in 1992 when he knocked out then WBA junior welterweight champ, Akinobu Hiranaka in Tokyo, Japan. That TKO victory was named 1992?s Knockout of The Year by Ring Magazine.

East believes that the postponement of the fight will not affect Judah?s camp and that they will be ready once again on April 27th.

?Magandang laban ito. Hindi birong kalaban si Zab.? (This will be a good fight. Zab is not an easy opponent.)

East, originally from Olongapo City, now resides and works in Las Vegas. He has also assisted in the camp of Filipino star, Nonito Donaire Jr. in the past and is currently training up and coming boxers in the above mentioned gym. He is planning to go back to the Philippines after the Judah fight to scout for local talents to train.
