Fernando "Trigger" Lumacad suffered a first round knockout in the hands of his Mexican opponent in Morelia, Michoacan de Ocampo Mexico.
The twenty six year old super flyweight from General Santos City, Philippines was hit by a counter left hook as he was lunging in with a jab against Felipe Orucuta (26-1-22 KOs) of Mexico, Mexico.
Both fighters started tentatively throwing jabs against each other in the opening round of their 10 round fight which was televised by TV Azteca in the United States.
Orucuta was successful with his jabs compared to that of Lumacad. He was able to sneak a couple of his jabs between the Filipino's guards that immediately reddened Lumacad's face. Orucuta also went to the body of Lumacad where he was also successful.
Lumacad (27-5-3, 12 KOs) was countered with Orucuta's left hook on his way in which sent him to the canvass. He was unable to recover from that punch and was counted out by the referee at the 2:17 mark of Round 1.
This is Lumacad's second straight defeat in two months. He lost a 12 round Unanimous Decision to another Mexican fighter, Carlos Cuadras last November 24,2012, also in Mexico. He suffers the 6th defeat of his career and his second one by knockout.
His first KO defeat was in the hands of another Mexican fighter, legendary Jorge Arce in a title fight in 2009 in New Jersey.
