Filipino junior welterweight Al Sabaupan will not be a part of an earlier reported and announced February 2nd card in Bayamon, Puerto Rico.
This is according to his manager Elmer Anuran who disputed the validity of such reports with Philboxing.com.
?No,? was Anuran?s quick reply if his fighter is fighting on that said date and venue which will be headlined by Puerto Rican star Juan Manuel Lopez?s return after almost a year of absence in the ring.
?I don't know where they got the info. I heard (a lot) about it lately," said Anuran.
According to recent reports on most boxing sites, Sabaupan (20-1-1, 15 KOs) will square off with Puerto Rican Jose ?Chelo? Gonzales who is unbeaten in his last 21 fights (16 KOs).
Gonzales, 29, is said to be rank Number 1 by the WBO in the 135 pound division and the current holder of a regional belt (WBO Lightweight belt) which was reported to be contested for that fight with Sabaupan.
?I?ve been told that there was info about that. It wasn't true,? he added.
Anuran informed Philboxing.com that he is in the process of negotiating a different fight for his fighter, one of which is a possible fight under the Ricky Burns-Miguel Vazquez lightweight title unification match at the famed Wembley Arena in London.
?I'm arranging a fight under Vasquez - Burns in UK,? informed Anuran.
Anuran is hopeful that if Vazquez is victorious over Burns, Sabaupan might face him later this year.
