Esparas to fight Ignacio on Jan. 27 in Bulacan

MANILA -- Philippine no. 4 light welterweight contender Ronnel Esparas will face ex-rated Jaypee Ignacio in a 10-rounder bout on January 27 in Guiguinto, Bulacan.

The 23-year old Esparas of the Art Monis Stable aims to score an impressive win to get a possible title crack.

"We want him (Esparas) to prepare for a possible championship fight in the near future," said Monis in an interview by Philboxing.com.

Ignacio of the Cocoy Elorde Stable from San Juan, however, is not a patsy. He is formely ranked RP No. 8 contender. Ignacio has a fight record of 8 wins with 2 knockouts but suffered 15 loses with two draws while Esparas has 10 wins with 8 defeats and one draw.

"Pero, almost all of Esparas' loses were in abroad at one-sided sa kalaban," Monis said.

Elmer Anuran of Saved by the Bell Promotions is presenting the card with Michael Dasmarinas against Mabert Paulino in a super flyweight 6-rounder.

Female boxers Jessebelle Pagaduan and Rose Cruz are also featured in the undercard. Pagaduan already has a record of 3 wins all by knockouts with one loss and no draw while Cruz is making her pro debut.

Also pitted super bantamweight Danilo Gabisay vs. Emmanuel Monsale (4 rds.), minimumweight - Lester Abutan vs. Rogie Cantos (4 rds.), super flyweight- Ruben Traza vs. Jayson Nicart (4 rds.). LITO DELOS REYES
