ARUM BELIEVES SALIDO-GARCIA TITLE FIGHT WILL BE TERRIFIC

Top Rank promoter Bob Arum believes WBO featherweight champion Orlando Salido?s title defense against undefeated Miguel Angel ?Mikey? Garcia on Sunday, Manila Time, should be a terrific fight.

The title fight at The Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York will be telecast by ABS-CBN over Studio 23 at 2:00 p.m.

Arum told the Manila Standard that the young, undefeated Garcia who is trained by his brother and former world champion Robert Garcia won?t find Salido an easy opponent because the Mexican is strong, durable and throws a lot of punches.

Garcia who is coming off an 8th round knockout over Jonathan Victor Barros (34-4-1, 18 KO?s) was being beaten when the young Garcia knocked him out.

WBO/Ring Magazine super bantamweight champion Nonito ?The Filipino Flash? who is a stablemate and friend of Mikey Garcia and is also trained by his brother Robert told the Manila Standard he expects Garcia to win.

Donaire who originally planned to travel to New York to watch the fight changed his mind upon learning that his wife Rachel was pregnant with the excited ?Fighter of the Year? stating he?d like to be by his wife?s side and will watch the fight on television.

Donaire has indicated in the past that should Salido win he may consider moving up in weight to challenge the Mexican champion but if Garcia wins, as he predicts, then he won?t fight his friend.

Salido won the title from Puerto Rico?s Juan Manuel ?Juanma? Lopez and repeated his TKO victory some months later to retain the 126 pound crown.
