DONAIRE-ARCE FIGHT RATES MORE THAN DOUBLE THAT OF KHAN-MOLINA IN US

The telecast of WBO/Ring Magazine and WBC Diamond Belt super bantamweight and four division world champion Nonito ?The Filipino Flash? Donaire?s smashing 3rd round knockout over Mexican warrior Jorge ?Travieso? Arce rated more that double that of the WBC silver light welterweight title fight between Amir Khan and Caros Molina.

The US ratings reinforced the drawing power of the fight which was telecast in the Philippines by the giant broadcast network ABS-CBN over Channel 2 and registered an average national rating of 34.7 percent with a remarkable high of 49.0 percent in urban areas in Southern Luzon overpowering competing networks ratings by a wide margin.

Boxingscene.com?s Keith Idec reported that according to ratings released this week by Nielsen Media Research, HBO?s audience more than doubled Showtime?s audience.

The HBO ?World Championship Boxing? broadcast highlighted by Donaire?s three-round demolition of Arce drew slightly more than 1.3 million viewers which was more than double the ?Showtime Championship Boxing? telecast that featured Amir Khan?s 10th-round stoppage of Carlos Molina and drew roughly 616,000 viewers.

HBO?s telecast of the Donaire-Arce showdown from the Toyota Center in Houstin, Texas opened one hour before the Showtime live broadcast and had what was described as a strong lead-in, because the network replayed Juan Manuel Marquez?s one-punch, sixth-round knockout of Manny Pacquiao.

It was also noted that HBO?s subscriber base exceeds Showtime?s by approximately 8 million as well, which also accounts for some of HBO?s advantage in boxing viewership.
